A message for the parents of children who are accessing school during the current lockdown
I am writing to ask you all for your help with two things. We need to make sure that we keep things running in school as best we can so that you can continue to send your child/ren in over the next few weeks.
We know that whilst cases nationally are now decreasing, cases in North West Leicestershire have gone up recently. This has been reflected in the number of positive cases we know of affecting our school community. This week, for example, we have had to close the Year 2 bubble and instruct parents to isolate their children.
If you, your child or anyone else in your household shows any symptoms of Covid-19 then you must follow the guidance:
- Your child must not attend school.
- You must self-isolate straight away for 10 days – or longer if you still have symptoms other than cough or loss of sense of smell/taste.
- If you live in the same household as someone with coronavirus symptoms, you must self-isolate straight away for 14 days.
- You need to get a test for coronavirus.
It is vital that your child does not attend school even whilst you are awaiting the results of a test if you or anyone else shows symptoms.
Please remember that the times of the school day at the moment are 8.45 a.m. until 3.15 p.m.
There are several parents who are regularly bringing their child/ren to school late in the morning. The start of the day is 8.45 a.m., not 8.50 a.m. or 8.55 a.m. (or even later!). You know that staff are out on the playground every morning to greet the children but they should not still be out there as late as they are having to be – they are needed in the classroom.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in these two matters.
Mr. R. Prior
